April 20, 2021 is the last day to apply for ballot by mail for the May 1 elections in Texas. Note: This is the deadline for your ballot by mail application to be received, not just postmarked!

Find your application for ballot by mail, eligibility requirements, and other info at the Texas Secretary of State website.

If you’re down to the wire and have run out of time to get your application in on time via mail, you can drop it off in person at your county elections office. We suggest calling your county elections office beforehand to find out any special processes or precautions they have in place due to COVID.

Outside of Texas? Visit USA.gov to be directed to your state’s vote by mail options.

Feb. 12 is the deadline to file for a place on the General Election Ballot. Your filing must be in by 5 p.m. CST.

Find the applications for a place on the ballot and other info about how to file on the Texas Secretary of State website. Check out the other candidate info compiled by the SoS here.

Applications for a place on the ballot must be submitted to the secretary of the municipality, school board, or district for which you’re running. Simply Google your city, school board, or district to find contact information, or use USA.gov’s local government finder tool.
