We have a number of standing committees and are always looking for people to help out. Let us know if you want to join a committee!
This essential group identifies and documents opportunities for local or statewide political office or positions on boards or commissions, seeks potential candidates, and identifies candidate and leadership training opportunities. This committee also revises the WOW Dems endorsement application and makes recommendations for endorsements to The Board.
candidates@wowdems.orgCommunications keeps members, stakeholders and the community informed about activities, events and issues using multiple communications channels (website, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). They work closely with members of WOW Dems committees to develop content for distribution in press releases, articles, emails, podcasts, and video. They also maintain monthly content calendar and distribution lists for email communications and serve as webmaster.
communications@wowdems.orgThis vital group plans and implements a major fundraiser each year and typically one or more smaller fundraisers. Funds from these events finance WOW Dems endorsements.
fundraising@wowdems.orgLegislative Informs and organizes our members to respond to upcoming legislation that impacts women, via trips to Austin for Lobby Days, speaking with our elected officials, attending local council meetings, letter writing, use of social media, etc.
legislative@wowdems.orgMembership keeps a record of members, checks ACTBlue for membership dues payments and follows recurring dues payments. They also print and maintain name badges, send Thank You notes to those who join, sign in and greet members and guests at meetings, follow up with guests and/or non-renewing members, and develop and implement initiatives to solicit new members.
membership@wowdems.orgEvents & Outreach oversees four main activities: -scheduling quality speakers for bi-monthly meetings and handling meeting logistics -connecting with and maintaining relationships with non-partisan groups to build our community and expand our Democratic outreach -hosting WOW Dems forums, debates, rallies, meet and greets, and other events -helping expand the Democratic volunteer base in our community, and -offering financial and volunteer support to local charities.
