WOW Dems formalizes support of women’s voter org
Texas — Aug. 25, 2020 — Women Organizing Women Democrats (“WOW Dems”) is proud to announce its support of Sisters United Alliance (“SUA”), a unique organization that uses a data-driven approach to women’s voter turnout in Texas. SUA identifies Democratic-leaning, low-propensity women voters – women registered to vote but have either never voted or have voted only once. SUA’s comprehensive campaign to turn out the vote among women includes multiple contacts with voters through mail, live calls, digital ads, and texting.
“Sisters United Alliance has a proven track record of engaging previously inactive voters and flipping seats with strategic methods that bring women voters to the polls,” said Debbie O’Reilly, WOW Dems President. “We are proud to support them and know that our contributions will help candidates become representatives. Please join us in supporting women by supporting SUA.”
Here’s a summary of SUA’s recent successes:
In 2016, SUA focused only on Harris County, targeting 89,000 Democratic-leaning, low-propensity women voters, and turned out 37,000 women (42% of its target).
In 2018, SUA refocused its vision on targeting only Democratic-leaning, non-voting women voters – the forgotten women of Texas. SUA expanded its universe and voter contact to nine Texas counties and focused only on low-propensity women voters. SUA made a difference in turning Fort Bend County blue and flipping Congressional and several Texas House seats.
This year, SUA is expanding to 13 suburban and urban Texas counties (Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, Travis, Brazoria, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Galveston, Bell, Hays, Denton, Collin), reaching out to 496,900 potential voters.
